Triangles and other symbols on packaging
When you start sorting, the most important thing is to understand the labeling of plastic, because very often only a few types of plastic will be accepted at the points near you.
It makes little sense to look at the marking of paper, glass, metal and other materials, because with rare exceptions, everything can be handed over. But often on the packaging, if it is not made of plastic, you can find different designations.
Let's figure it out.
20-22 (PAP) - paper and cardboard. Boxes from household appliances, products, cosmetics; postcards, book covers, magazines and newspapers, envelopes, paper bags, printing paper. Can be recycled.
40 (FE) - tin: cans, aerosol cans. Cans can be recycled, cans are not accepted everywhere.
41 (ALU) - aluminum: beverage cans and foil. You can hand over for processing, but the foil is accepted only in very rare places.
70–74 (GL) — glass and glass containers. Colorless transparent, green, brown, light brown and dark brown bottle glass. Cans and bottles can be recycled.
81–84 (C/PAP) — composite materials: multilayer packaging made of paper, plastic and sometimes metal. Such packaging is called "tetrapack" or "purpack" and is used, for example, for juice and dairy products. It can be handed over, but processing is very difficult and expensive.
Other icons
d2w indicates the so-called oxo-degradable plastic. The sign is put on plastic packaging, to which an additive has been added - a component responsible for the rapid breakdown of plastic into microparticles. This plastic cannot be recycled. It is better not to buy such goods.
Crossed-out container is placed on electronic equipment and batteries. He says that it is impossible to throw this item into a garbage container, but it must be handed over for recycling, because it is hazardous waste.
Green dot: If this mark is on products made in Europe, it means that the manufacturer has paid a license fee and funded the collection and sorting of packaging waste. But if the goods were made in Russia, then it does not mean anything.
Keep the country clean! The sign is found with different signatures, such as Keep your country tidy (“Keep the country clean!” - English) or, for example, simply “Gracias” (“Thank you”). Calls not to litter and dispose of waste. But you and I know that waste should not only not be thrown on the lawn, but in the trash, but before that it should be sorted and handed over separately.
FSC The sign indicates that wood and wood products (cardboard and paper) are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. The label doesn't mean anything.
